Issues

Fix our broken tax system.  Arizona's tax code is outdated and unfair.  Governor Brewer and Republicans asked the voters to tax themselves while refusing to close loopholes that benefit special interests and the rich.  We have to fix our broken tax system so it is fair for everyone - families, hard working citizens, and businesses alike.  By reforming our tax code and making it more equitable, we can balance our budget and attract new jobs to Arizona.

Pay off our debt.  Arizona is drowning in debt.  Chad offered a plan to pay off our debt, but instead Republicans made it worse by selling off state assets and using gimmicks to try and balance the budget.  It's time to stop the madness.

Clean up our neighborhoods.  Chad has been a leader in the fight against graffiti and gang crimes.  He has passed legislation to increase fines for offenders and sentence parents of repeat juvenile offenders to perform customer service with their children.  In 2008, Chad passed sponsored legislation which would have required lifetime tracking of gang members, but it was defeated by Senator Russell Pearce.  In 2011, Chad will be offering more innovative ways to crack down on graffiti and gang crimes so we can take our neighborhoods back.

Make Arizona a leader in solar energy.  It is a travesty that Oregon has more solar energy jobs than Arizona.  And it's even more ludicrous that Republicans in the House actually tried to repeal a bi-partisan bill (co-sponsored by Chad) which is bringing hundreds of solar energy jobs to Arizona.  We need to get serious about protecting our environment and creating jobs in our great state.

Improve our education system.  Arizona's education system is at the bottom of the pack, and instead of fixing it Governor Brewer and Republicans made the deepest cuts to education funding in the history of our state.  It's time to get serious about our children's future.  We need to fully fund public education, require greater accountability for both students and teachers, and prepare our children so they can compete in today's global economy.

Bring more jobs to Arizona.  We need to continue using innovative tools to attract capital investment and jobs to our state.  This means supporting Science Foundation Arizona, overhauling the broken down Department of Commerce, and using innovative polices to fund job training and targeted incentives to attract more high-tech and high-wage jobs to Arizona.
